About Us

Our Background

Friends for Justice – (FFJ), is a non-profit, nonpartisan and nongovernmental organization which was founded on November 15th, 2008 in the Republic of South Sudan to advocate for human rights, land rights, rule of law, access to justice, juvenile justice, disabled rights and prevention of Gender Based Violence (GBV). FFJ’s Main office is located in Juba, the Capital of South Sudan. 

Vision

A free, just, developed and peaceful society governed by rule of law where all citizens enjoy liberty, development and services delivery exercise in accordance with principle of equality and respect of humanity regardless of race, sex, colour, ethnicity or any other status.

Mission

Friends for Justice is committed to advocate for human rights, tenure rights, rule of law and access to justice to the communities of South Sudan through pro bono services, mass media public awareness and dissemination of domestic and international laws.

Our Objectives

1.

To promote access to justice by providing pro bono services to vulnerable litigants who are not capable of hiring defence lawyers on their own.

2.

To advocate for various human rights in South Sudan to avoid impunity and discrimination.

3.

To provide a forum for communities to exchange views and ideas to foster unity and enhance collective action towards peace and development.

4.

To disseminate the laws of South Sudan to citizens in general to enhance rule of law and access to justice.

5.

To empower and build the capacity of women and youth to participate in leadership roles and decision-making to enhance self-reliance to contribute to national development process.

6.

Advocate for conflict management and resolution, reconciliations and promotion of the culture of peace and justices among communities in South Sudan.

7.

To promote and establish or otherwise assist in the promoting of community resource centres, where valuable information can be found.

8.

To advocate for land and tenure rights in the Republic of South Sudan.

9.

To affiliate and cooperate with other national or international organizations on matters concerning Justice, peace and development in the Republic of South Sudan.
